**Lesson Outline**:
1. **Introduction (10 minutes)**:
- **Greeting and Prayer**: Start with a warm greeting and an opening prayer. Invite a student to lead the prayer if comfortable.
- **Icebreaker**: Have students share what chores or tasks they do at home and discuss briefly how they feel about them.
2. **Bible Story (15 minutes)**:
- **Reading**: Read Genesis 2:15 (God placing Adam in the Garden of Eden to work and take care of it) and Colossians 3:23-24 (working for the Lord).
- **Discussion**: Ask students what these verses tell us about God's view of work. Highlight the idea that work is part of God’s plan and can be a way to serve Him.
3. **Teaching (15 minutes)**:
- **Explanation**: Discuss why we should work, touching on the following points with references to scripture:
1. **Obedience to God**: God commands us to work (Genesis 2:15).
2. **Service to Others**: Work helps others and contributes to the community (Ephesians 4:28).
3. **Self-reliance and Providing for Families**: Work helps us support ourselves and our families (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12).
4. **Developing Skills and Talents**: Work allows us to use and develop the gifts God has given us (1 Peter 4:10).
5. **Bringing Glory to God**: By working well, we honor God (Colossians 3:23).
4. **Activity (10 minutes)**:
- **Reflection**: Hand out the drawing paper and crayons or markers. Ask students to draw a picture of a biblical or modern character doing important work. Encourage them to think about how this work helps others and serves God.
5. **Group Sharing (5 minutes)**:
- Have students share their drawings with the class and explain what the person is doing and why that work is important.
6. **Wrap-Up and Application (5 minutes)**:
- **Summary**: Recap the main points of the lesson. Emphasize that all work, no matter how big or small, has value when done with the right attitude and for God's glory.
- **Personal Application**: Encourage students to think about one way they can contribute through work this week, whether at home, school, or in their community.
7. **Closing Prayer (3 minutes)**:
- End with a closing prayer, asking God to help everyone work with a joyful heart and to do everything for His glory.
8. **Homework (2 minutes)**:
- Assign a small task: Ask students to read Proverbs 6:6-8 and come prepared to discuss what they learned from the example of the ant.
---
**Assessment**:
- Participation during class discussions and activities.
- Reflective sharing on the drawings they made.
- Completion and understanding of the homework assignment.
---
**Extension Activities**:
- Encourage students to keep a "Work Journal" for a week, documenting different tasks they do and reflecting on how these tasks serve others and God.
- Plan a small class project where students can work together on a meaningful task, such as gardening, a clean-up, or creating cards for people in the community.
**Teacher’s Reflection**:
- Observe student engagement and understanding throughout the lesson.
- Note any particular points of interest or confusion to adjust future lessons accordingly.
By reinforcing the Christian principles related to work, this lesson aims to foster a positive attitude towards work and a deeper understanding of its value and purpose.
